IFFR Americas enjoys watching the last ever Reno Air Races

Its not just IFFR members in Europe who have been enjoying great fellowship recently. While European members have enjoyed meetings in France, Austria and the UK, Americas section members have been enjoying a get together in Reno, Nevada, at the last ever Reno Air Races.

The weather was fine – much better than last year when smoke from a forest fire resulted in most of the racing being cancelled for the first few days. This year, those attending had great views of the races. IFFR was there on the Thursday and the Friday.

Once again, Tim Puliz and Vicki Puliz were wonderful hosts as members came together from across the South West of the USA, organising a social barbecue at their home and a dinner at a local Italian restaurant. Sam and Elena Bishop flew up from Watsonville, collecting George Chaffey en route, and Steve Elefant made the longer journey from down near Palm Springs.

Those attending loved the opportunity of being able to get close up to where the action happens – in the pits, as well as seeing the races themselves. And of course, its always a great opportunity to catch up with other non-IFFR aviation buddies.
